throughout Europe and North Africa
According to the description of work buildings of outstanding significance are subject to in depth case studies providing knowledge on the state of preservation, the indoor climate conditions and requirements for preventive conservation strategies. Various types of historic buildings from different time periods and located in different climate zones are investigated concerning their behaviour due to weather changes and different utilization. The aim is to improve the assessment of the climatic functions of historic buildings with regard to the vulnerability of the interior works of art.
The case studies should serve to enhance the knowledge about the complex cause-effects between use, indoor and outdoor climate, technological features and preservation state by examinating the most common types of historic assets in different climates. Therefore, they also provide basic data input for the damage assessment to be further used for the analysis and decision support system software.
The data, which refers to future indoor climate projections until 2100, derives from coupling building simulation with climate change scenarios allowing to estimate the climate change impact on movable and immovable cultural heritage.
